v How many beds are there in The Stewart House and what are the sizes?
There are three bedrooms with two full size beds and a queen size bed, one of the bedrooms has a folding baby crib stored in the closet. There is a sleeper-sofa on the bottom floor in the kitchen/family room area. On the top floor, in the game room, you will find a futon sofa and a roll-away bed.
v How far is the cabin from the water?
About 75 feet. We have made a path that zigzags down the hill. This makes an easy trip for most people to walk to the boat dock.
v How secluded is the cabin?
Most people consider the location secluded. There is one house next door and a camper on the other side. To get to The Stewart House you have to travel through a farm field. It is located at the end of a seldom used road.
v What type of vacation can I expect at the Stewart House?

A pool table and pin ball machine for those so inclined.
Fishing is good off the private boat dock, with a jon boat and paddle for those who don’t bring their own. The cove is know as one of the best for fishing on the lake.
Quiet roads to walk on that have little traffic with frequent spotting of wild animals.
Horseshoes and a horseshoe pit.
A fire pit and firewood for an evening of hot dogs and marshmallows.
v How far is it to the nearest boat launch?
It is located on Hwy 973 next to the beach area, about 5 miles from the cabin. Your boat can be parked at the private boat dock for the duration of your stay.
v Can I pull my boat to the cabin?
Only if it is a small one. The road to the cabin is narrow in places.
v Is there somewhere that I can rent a pontoon?
We have a pontoon available for rental.
v Do I have to purchase fishing license?
Yes, three day fishing license can be purchased at Wayne’s Place. Children under 16 don’t have to have a license.
v What kinds of pets are you allowed to have at the Stewart House?
Pets must be pre-approved and be house broken. We do not have accommodations for large outside animals.
v How far is it to the nearest restaurants?
Dean's located two miles away. Stormie’s is three miles away. They are both small home cookin’ places. Thirty minutes away you will find a wide selection of restaurants.
v How far is it to towns?
Towns with population of about 5,000 are thirty minutes away. Bowling Green, population 51,000 is one hour away. Nashville is one and one-half hours away.
v How far is it from the cabin to the beach?
The beach area can be seen from the cabin. But to get to the beach one must travel by car around the lake for about 5 miles. Of course it can be reached by boat. The shoreline is too rugged to walk to the beach.
v Where can I buy groceries on my way to the cabin?
If you are arriving on Hwy 431 from the North you will find an IGA supermarket in Beechmont, about 15 minutes from the Stewart House. If you are arriving on Hwy 431 from the South an IGA is located in Lewisburg, again about 15 minutes away. Wayne’s Place located about 2 miles away is a quick place to pick up bread, milk, eggs, chips, etc. You can also find gas, bait, ice, and delicious sandwiches.
v Can we swim from the dock?
Kentucky State Park rules forbid swimming from the dock.
v How deep is the water off the dock?
About 12 to 15 feet deep.
v How big is Lake Malone?
The lake is 788 acres big. The depth is around 20 to 30 feet deep in most places. The shape is irregular with lots of coves and sandstone bluffs, some 50 feet high.
v Where is Lake Malone located?
In Western Kentucky. About halfway between Owensboro and Bowling Green.
v Are there any hiking trails nearby?
Laurel Trail, a 1½ mile trail is located about six miles away near the campground. There is also a wildflower trail nearby.
v How far away is the nearest golf course?
Dogwood Golf Course is three miles away.
v How far away are churches?
The nearest church, Dunmor Missionary Baptist Church, is one and one-half miles away. There are many churches of all denominations within driving distance.
